About the conference

The decade we are in has rewritten the questions law has to answer. Artificial intelligence now decides who is offered a loan and who is recommended for bail. Personal data is both the currency of the economy and the subject of a new statute. Three new criminal codes have replaced the ones the country ran on for more than a century. Speech, money, work and harm have moved substantially online, and doctrines built for an earlier world are being stretched to cover them.

This conference asks how law is holding up, and where it is not. It invites work that engages a live problem in any field, from constitutional and criminal law to corporate, technology, environmental and international law, and that says something useful about how rights, regulation and justice should function in a world changing faster than the statute book. Critical work is as welcome as doctrinal work. What we are looking for is an argument, grounded in the law and the facts, that a reader will be glad to have read.

Who may submit

The conference is open to academicians, research scholars, postgraduate and undergraduate students, legal practitioners, judicial officers and independent researchers, from India and abroad. A paper may be written by up to two authors, and a single registration and a single publication charge cover both of them.

Theme

Law in the Digital Decade: Rights, Regulation and Justice in a Rapidly Changing World.

The conference examines how legal doctrine, regulation and the delivery of justice are adapting as technology reshapes the questions the law must answer, and where they are falling short. The sub-themes below open that question across the fields of law; the conference welcomes any paper that takes it up.

Sub-themes

Papers are invited on the sub-themes below. They are a guide to the questions the conference hopes to gather, not fixed sessions: the tracks for the day will be formed after submissions close, around the topics on which papers are actually received. A paper on any contemporary question of law and its intersection with technology, governance and society is welcome, including work that does not sit neatly under any one heading. Comparative and international perspectives are encouraged.

Submission guidelines

  • Abstract: 250 to 300 words, with up to five keywords, stating the question, the sources or method, and the argument. Reviewed editorially, with a decision usually within two to three days of submission.

  • Full paper: 3,000 to 6,000 words including footnotes, submitted once the abstract is accepted. Peer reviewed before it is accepted for the conference and the book.

  • Formatting: Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 line spacing; footnotes in size 10. A uniform and recognised citation style throughout, Bluebook (20th edition) or the ILI style.

  • File type: submitted as a Word document (.doc or .docx). PDF files are not accepted, since the paper is edited for the book.

  • Originality: the work must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Similarity must stay below 10 percent, text generated by AI tools is not accepted, and the paper must contain nothing defamatory.

  • Anonymity: the file submitted for review must not carry the author's name or affiliation, so that both rounds of review are blind.

Registration

Registration is charged once an abstract is accepted, and confirms the author's place to present.

  • Attendee: ₹ 400/-

  • Students & Research Scholars: ₹ 700/-

  • Academicians, Professionals & Practitioners: Rs.1000/-

  • Foreign Delegate: $ 30

Note: Registration includes participation in the full programme and an e-certificate.

Publication

Accepted papers are published in an edited book bearing an ISBN, with a Crossref DOI assigned to each chapter so it can be cited and found. Publication is optional and open to every accepted paper, on a single charge of ₹1,500 separately, the same for everyone, together with a signed copyright form. The charge includes a printed copy of the book and a hard copy of the certificate, posted to the author. There is no separate per-page or processing fee.

Certificates

Every presenting author receives an e-certificate of presentation. Authors whose papers are published in the book receive, in addition, a printed certificate posted with their copy of the book. Those attending receive an e-certificate of participation.

Review

The abstract is read by the editorial committee. The full paper is read by subject reviewers in a double-blind process, and is accepted for the conference and the book only on their recommendation. Payment of the registration or the publication charge does not, on its own, secure acceptance of a paper.
