The Global Scholars Consortium is a small group of faculty members, one for each country, who convene our conferences together with us: which questions are asked, which institutions organise them, who reviews, and where they happen. Each conference we run from now on is organised together with institutions from two countries.
VidhiAagaz is an academic publisher based in India, established in 2017, working across law, management and the humanities. We publish two peer-reviewed, open-access journals, and through CLRS Academy a third, and we organise online conferences that draw several hundred participants each. Authors from 56 countries have published with us.
Scholars from many countries already sit on our editorial boards, review for our journals and chair sessions at our conferences. That is real, and we want to do much more of it, as a structure rather than as an exception.
What is still decided in one office in one country is the part that matters most: which questions a conference asks, which institutions organise it, who reviews, and where it happens. For questions like justice, technology, trade, climate and human rights, those decisions should be shared, because the answers differ from country to country.
The Global Scholars Consortium is a group of faculty members from different countries and disciplines: law, management, the humanities and the social sciences. Each member is the convener for their own country: our point of contact there, the person who introduces us to institutions, and the person who makes sure their country is represented on panels, among reviewers and among chairs.
We are looking for 25 to 40 conveners across all continents, appointed for two years. Not every country will be represented in the first cohort.
A convener introduces us to their institution. The institution then becomes a co-organiser of a conference, named as such on the call, the programme and the certificates.
Once in-person days begin, the consortium decides where they happen, and a convener has the standing to bring a conference to their own university.
We will run several conferences a year. Each one is co-organised by VidhiAagaz and two institutions from two different countries, introduced by their conveners. In the first year every conference is fully online, so no partner needs a venue or a budget to take part. In-person days follow once the partnerships are real.
We are looking for faculty members and researchers in law, management, the humanities or the social sciences, with a current position at a university or research institution in any country, who are willing to be our convener there.
